Travel from the airport to downtown takes just 12 minutes; one of the shortest airport-to-city transfers in Europe! Both the metro and national trail line serving the airport are efficient, clean, safe and easy to use. Most journeys are short, however, as Copenhagen is a compact city, meaning that you will spend your time doing business and enjoying the experience and less time getting from A to B.

The Circle Bridge
Cirkelbroen (The Circle Bridge) connects the areas around Copenhagen Harbour. The bridge consists of five differently sized circular platforms, each with its own mast, and it is from these circular platforms, the name of the bridge arises. Behind the design of the bridge is world-renowned and award-winning Danish-Islandic Olafur Eliasson. During his career as an artist, he has held solo exhibitions in Copenhagen, New York and Berlin among many other places, and of course, he has made many installations, artworks and architectural design all over the world, now including Cirkelbroen.

The Øresund Bridge
The Øresund Bridge is a 15.9 km direct link between Denmark and Sweden. Øreund Bridge opened in 2000 and since then thousands of cars and trains have crossed the strait between Denmark and Sweden. The bridge consists of both a bridge, a tunnel and the artificial island Peberholmen. The main architect is Georg K.S. Rotne. The Øresund Bridge is also the place where it all begins in the first season of the TV series, The Bridge, when a body is found under the bridge.

Central
Copenhagen
Central Copenhagen includes the city’s oldest neighborhoods with small, narrow streets and crooked houses. Here you will find some of the city’s most popular attractions, the political and historic centre as well as a myriad of great shopping streets, cozy cafes, restaurants, green oases, charming canals and a modern waterfront. The main artery of the city centre is the pedestrian street Strøget, that runs from City Hall Square to Kongens Nytorv. The heart of Copenhagen that we define as the city centre is the area within the Lakes (Sortedam Lake, Peblinge Lake and Skt Jørgens Lake) and includes both the medieval city and Christianshavn. It is also known as Copenhagen K.

Tivoli Gardens
Tivoli Gardens amusement park in Copenhagen is a must for all visitors to the city, young and old. Tivoli is located just a few minutes walk from City Hall, and with the Copenhagen Central Station as its nearest neighbour it is very easy to get to. Tivoli Gardens was founded in 1843 and has become a national treasure and an international attraction. Fairy tale writer Hans Christian Andersen visited many times, as did Walt Disney and many other celebrities, who all fell in love with the gardens. Part of Tivoli Gardens’ secret is that there is something for everyone. The scenery is beautiful with exotic architecture, historic buildings and lush gardens. At night, thousands of coloured lights create a fairy tale atmosphere that is completely unique.

A new island
If the wonderful city and the fascinating congress venue are not enough, dredging enthusiasts will no doubt be thrilled by the fact that Copenhagen, and its surroundings, is the home of many prestigious projects such as the already operational Oresund Link. As an added bonus, during WODCON XXIII there will be more projects under construction including the Fehmarn Belt Tunnel Link, Lynetteholm, the new district in the middle of the Port of Copenhagen, the new Storstrøm Bridge and the new energy island.
